Dear: Mr. George Fullbright

I’m Monica Murphy, I’m writing this letter to you because I think I should get the job as a copy editor. You did not choose me for this job, and that makes me feel very ironic because I have a 3.8 GPA in CUNY and I have in a very good English Literature. I want you to know that literature is important in a job as a copy editor and it also is important for life.

Literature means written works especially such as imaginative works as poems, plays, essays and stories. Literature is important not just for this job but also for life. It is important for life because there are interactions between life and literature. In life, you need to know literature to graduate from school and college. When you are applying for a driver’s license, you need to be literate and know literate in order to read a driver’s manual of how to drive. When you are doing businesses with other company and sign contracts, you need to be literate and know literature in order to read the contracts and know what the contracts are for. In our daily life, you have to know literature to read a newspaper and know what happens around the world. Literature is a part of language. We would speak more politely and nicely if we learn more literature. Literature could educate our knowledge and help us to improve our English speaking. Literature could help us to construe a poem or play more clearly. Therefore, literature is important and it is also a part of our life.

I think your company should change the employment philosophy and practices in the future. Your company should accept job applicants whose major is important to the job and also important to life such as literature.

Sincerely,

Monica Murphy

Thank your company for attention to this matter!
