I choose the critical lens by Norman Cousins "Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live." I agree with this statement because when you die, you don’t have to face all the pressures and problems in your life and you don’t have to feel the pains and the problems doesn’t hurt you anymore. But when something dies inside us while we live, it would hurt you and you could feel the pains and you have to face all the pressures and problems until you get a solution for it.

In the story "The First Deathof Her Life" by Elizabeth Taylor. Lucy Mayhew’ mother has passed away, her mother no longer in this world, no longer feeling the pains and have no problems anymore. But to Lucy, it was the biggest loss in her life while she living. Lucy’ tears poured from her eyes when her mother died. Lucy has to accept the pains and the problems from the death of her mother. In Lucy’ life, she would always remember the death of her mother. In the story "Zlateh The Goat" by Isaac Bashevis Singer. Zlateh was an old and gave little mild goat. When Aaron’s father decided to sell Zlateh to a butcher. Zlateh the goat and Aaron are same years old, Aaron and his sisters treated the goat as their friend. But when they know Zlateh going to send to the butcher and they know it is the greatest loss. Aaron’s mother and sisters cried. Aaron also hurts inside him and has to face the pains. In the end of the story, even though Zlateh didn’t send to the butcher, but Aaron’s family knew it was a greatest loss while they live when they send Zlateh to the butcher.

I agree very much with this statement. Because this statement is exist in reality. This statement could happen to everybody in the world. I’m very glad to understand and realize the meaning of this statement.
